The newest version of the student-authored collection of Medicinal Plant Monographs is now available under the Teaching tab on the Etnobotanica website. This latest edition includes an additional 26 medicinal plant monographs written by my students enrolled at Emory University in the HLTH385-000 “Botanical Medicine and Health” course.

New paper out on the medical ethnobotany of the Albanian Alps

A provisional PDF of a new paper co-authored by Quave and colleagues entitled “Medical ethnobotany of the Albanian Alps in Kosovo” was released today in the Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine. This paper documents the study of medicinal plants used in Alpine communities Albanian of Kosovo. The uses of 98 plants species belonging to 42 families were recorded. The final, formatted pdf of the paper is expected within the next few weeks and will be made available on the JEE site as well as on the publications page of www.ethnobotanica.us.

Exciting new study published by Quave and colleagues

An exciting new study by Dr. Quave and colleagues reporting the activity of ellagic acid derivatives against S. aureus biofilms was published today in PLoS One. These compounds were isolated from a medicinal blackberry plant used in southern Italy to treat skin infections.
