The drugs, used to treat epilepsy and multiple sclerosis, are recommended for use by the NHS in England.
This is the jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis), a shrub from the deserts of southwestern North America. Half the weight of each thumbnail-sized jojoba seed is liquid oil, which has very similar properties to that found in whales, which is why it was used as a substitute for whale oil.
