I am happy to announce that we have a new member on our lab team: Dr. James Lyles.
Dr. Lyles joined the Quave Research Group as a post-doctoral fellow in February. Dr. Lyles comes to us from The North Carolina Arboretum Germplasm Repository (TNCAGR) where he developed a diverse natural products library for screening. While at TNCAGR, Dr. Lyles collaborated with the US Botanical Safety Lab performing botanical authentication testing and analytical analysis of raw botanicals and finished natural products. Dr. Lyles is a graduate of Rhodes College with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and was awarded his doctor of philosophy in biology from The Graduate Center, CUNY in 2011. His previous research includes isolating antimalarial benzophenones and xanthones from Garcinia species, phenolic and antioxidant variability of tea (Camellia sinensis), and polyphenolic and triterpene glycoside stability in black cohosh (Actaea racemosa). Dr. Lyles has experience in many areas of pharmacognosy including: chromatography, structure elucidation, bioactivity screening, and analytical analysis using HPTLC, HPLC, LC-MS, and NMR.
